Sri City, July 9, 2025: Mr. Srinivas, R. Katikitala, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), visited Sri City on Wednesday, accompanied by a team of senior officials, as part of a key engagement with one of India’s foremost integrated business cities. He was received by Mr. Satish Kamat, President (Operations), who provided an overview of Sri City’s masterplan and its impressive industrial development.
During the presentation, Mr. Kamat outlined the well-planned industrial and social zones of Sri City, highlighting the presence of integrated housing, schools, shopping centres, and other key amenities. He also explained the township’s comprehensive sustainability measures, including efficient water resource management, wastewater recycling, solid waste management, and green initiatives. Emphasising the township’s unique “Walk to Work” concept, Mr. Kamat requested support from the Ministry to enhance urban liveability for the growing workforce.
Mr. Srinivas engaged in an in-depth discussion on the current occupancy levels of industrial plots, future expansion strategies, service infrastructure, and the increasing demand for diverse housing categories — particularly dormitories and affordable housing for low-income groups. He advised the Sri City team to study successful housing models from other industrial regions and come forward with innovative proposals aligned with MoHUA’s mission.
Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder Managing Director of Sri City, said, “It was a privilege to host the Secretary and the Joint Secretary of MoHUA. Their visit and valuable suggestions will go a long way in guiding our efforts, especially in enhancing social infrastructure and housing solutions.” He also noted that the interaction offered industry leaders an opportunity to share their views on infrastructure and workforce-related needs.

The discussion centred around the need for government support in promoting affordable housing, especially for women employees in the industrial sector. Mr. Srinivas assured full support from the Ministry for initiatives aimed at inclusive urban development and housing accessibility.
Following the session, Mr. Srinivas toured the industrial park and visited prominent production units, including Alstom, where he witnessed the dynamic pace of manufacturing and infrastructure development.
