Sri City, May 6, 2026: Carrier Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Ltd., the Indian arm of Carrier Global Corporation, has begun construction of a ₹1,000‑crore manufacturing facility at Sri City, Andhra Pradesh—its first unit in Southern India. The groundbreaking was led by Hon’ble Minister Mr. Nara Lokesh, joined by Hon’ble Minister Mr. Anagani Satya Prasad. Carrier’s global leadership, including Mr. David L. Gitlin, Mr. Michael L. Gierges, and Mr. Sundaresan Narayanan, attended alongside Mr. Srini Raju and Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy, marking a landmark investment and a defining moment for Sri City’s industrial growth.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Lokesh described the groundbreaking as a historic milestone, noting Carrier’s ₹1,000‑crore investment at Sri City will generate substantial employment and strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s vision of building a full‑stack ecosystem—from energy and data centres to advanced manufacturing—while empowering local talent. He acknowledged the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and emphasised that, with strong policy support and focus on speed and scale, Andhra Pradesh is emerging as a global hub for next‑generation manufacturing and digital infrastructure.
Highlighting Sri City’s rise as a leading HVAC and electronics hub and projecting to contribute nearly 60% of India’s AC production by 2027, Mr. Lokesh expressed hope the share will soon reach 80%. He added that Carrier’s presence will catalyse supplier networks, attract ancillary industries, accelerate job creation, and reinforce Sri City’s role in global supply chains. Lauding its inclusive growth, he described Sri City as one of India’s most dynamic industrial hubs, proudly evolving into “Sthree City” with nearly half its workforce comprising women.
Mr. David L. Gitlin thanked the state leadership and termed the project a defining chapter in Carrier’s India journey. He said the $100 million investment underscores the company’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and local empowerment, while strengthening supply chains and positioning Sri City as a hub for advanced cooling solutions.
Michael L. Gierges expressed appreciation to the Government of Andhra Pradesh for its business-friendly approach and acknowledged Sri City for its guidance and support.
Mr. Sundaresan Narayanan described Andhra Pradesh as the future of India, expressing gratitude to the state leadership.
Expressing gratitude to Hon’ble Ministers Mr. Nara Lokesh and Mr. Anagani Satya Prasad for their gracious presence, and to Carrier’s leadership for choosing Sri City, Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy conveyed delight at facilitating this landmark investment. He remarked, “Breaking ground at Sri City reflects Carrier’s strong commitment to India’s hyper‑growth journey. Under the visionary leadership of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and with the constant encouragement of the young and dynamic Minister Mr. Lokesh, this facility will drive sustainable innovation, empower local talent, and establish Sri City as a global hub of excellence.
Mr. S. Venkatewar, IAS, District Collector, Tirupati, Mr. Subbarayadu, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Tirupati and a host of senior state government officials were present during the ceremony.
The upcoming facility, spread across 39 acres, will manufacture high-end chillers, significantly expand supply chains, and leverage proximity to five ports to enhance export capabilities. Scheduled to commence operations by the end of next year, the plant is expected to generate nearly 3,000 direct and indirect jobs. It will incorporate green manufacturing practices and cater to the growing demand for energy-efficient cooling solutions, further strengthening Sri City’s position as a strategic hub within Carrier’s global ecosystem.
