Sri City, October 14, 2019:- India Metal One Steel Plate Processing Private Limited (IMOP), a Japanese major in processing steel plates, held the production plant expansion ceremony at its unit on Monday. Mr. Takeshi Hirai, Managing Director, IMOP declared the new facility inaugurated, in the presence of Mr. Ramesh Subramaniam, President, Sri City Foundation, executives from customer companies and senior officials of Sri City were present at the function.
Thanking Sri City management for the excellent support extended, Mr. Takeshi Hirai said that IMOP, which had started operations in Sri City in 2012, has been providing innovative solutions to customers. “With the manufacturing capacity almost hitting its upper limit, we have expanded the plant and enhanced the production capacity,” he added.
Commenting on the occasion Mr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder Managing Director, Sri City said, “While the Auto sector continues to witness slowdown, it is heartening to note that IMOP is expanding and continuing to invest here in Sri City. Even in other sectors too, several companies here have already expanded their plants and some more are in the process of building additional production facilities, testifying the investor-friendly ecosystem that has already been built at Sri City with the support of State Government. I am optimistic, these expansions will further drive the economic growth and employment opportunities in the region.”
IMOP had invested Rs 200 crore for setting up the existing plant of 23,000 sq.m. area. Now, it added 8000 sq. m area of shop floor by investing Rs.80 crore. It processes steel plates and supplies processed products, such as steel frame assemblies and steel components, that are used by the OEMs of construction equipment, transport, and ship building. IMOP is a one stop solution for all construction equipment industry without compromising on safety, quality and delivery time. The plant is accredited with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications – a testimony to its quality and performance.
At present, the plant has an annual production capacity of 24000 Tonne, and has been operating at near full capacity meeting the market demand. Now its annual capacity will go up 35 per cent. The highly automated plant has been offering employment for 500 people, and now 100 more people will get jobs.
