Sri City, December 18, 2024: Isuzu Motors India, a subsidiary of Isuzu Motors Limited, Japan marked a significant milestone as it rolled out its 1,00,000th ‘Made in India’ vehicle, the popular Isuzu D-MAX V-Cross, from its state-of-the-art greenfield manufacturing plant in Sri City. The celebrated model, the S Series, earned the distinction of being the 1,00,000th vehicle locally produced in India. Dr. N. Yuvaraj IAS, Secretary to the Government of Andhra Pradesh, Industries & Commerce Department was chief guest of the ceremony. The event was attended by Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder and Managing Director of Sri City and Mr. Sado, Deputy Managing Director of THK and Chairman of the Sri City Japanese Companies Group (SJCG) as guest of honours.
“Our 1,00,000th vehicle rollout at the Sri City plant is a proud milestone showcasing Isuzu’s commitment to global quality,” said Mr. Rajesh Mittal, President and MD of Isuzu Motors India. He thanked the AP Government and Sri City MD for their unwavering support and credited the achievement to the skilled workforce, advanced technology, and top-notch processes. Applauding the team, including talented diploma holders from Andhra Pradesh, for their safety and quality excellence, he urged them to strive for greater targets.
Dr. Yuvaraj, while congratulating the Isuzu Motors India team on their outstanding achievement, described the event as a proud testament to India’s manufacturing prowess and global competitiveness. Sharing congratulatory messages from the Chief Minister and Industries Minister, he highlighted that this accomplishment underscores Andhra Pradesh’s dedication to nurturing world-class industries and building a thriving ecosystem for innovation, job creation, and growth. He commended the IMI management for leveraging local talent to achieve excellence and praised Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy for his exemplary leadership in managing the industrial city, creating significant employment opportunities, and promoting women’s empowerment in a backward region.

At the milestone event, Mr. Shinsuke Minami, President and COO of Isuzu Motors, and Mr. Shigeru Wakabayashi, Executive Vice President & Group CEO of the Mobility Group at Mitsubishi Corporation, virtually addressed the gathering and congratulated the Team IMI.
Mr. Sakamoto, Chairman of Isuzu Engineering Business Center India (IEBCI), highlighted IMI’s growth journey and showcased the plant’s management philosophy, safety measures, and quality protocols driving enhanced productivity.
Isuzu Motors India began its operations in 2016 by setting up its manufacturing facility in Sri City. With an annual installed capacity of 50,000 units (on a two-shift basis), it has emerged as a vital hub for Isuzu’s operations. Among its product range, the S-Cab remains the top-selling vehicle in India’s commercial segment, while domestic sales contribute 10-12% of Isuzu’s overall sales. Additionally, Isuzu Motors India is the largest exporter of light commercial vehicles from the country. With a workforce of 1,600 employees, Isuzu Motors India stands out for its inclusivity, with women comprising 22% of the workforce—the highest in the Indian commercial vehicle industry. The company has also consistently maintained over 80% local employment, currently at 82%, underscoring its commitment to supporting local communities.
