Sri City, February 5, 2024: Dr. V. George Jenner, Deputy Director General of Forests (DDGF), of the Regional Office, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MOEF & CC), Chennai, paid a visit to Sri City on Monday. Mr. S. Yuvaraj, IFS, Deputy Inspector General of Forests (DIGF), Chennai; Mr. Balaji, IFS, Assistant Inspector General of Forests (AIGF), Integrated Regional Office (IRO), Vijayawada; and Mr. P. Prathap Reddy, Managing Director, Ramaayapatnam Port, accompanied the DDGF.
Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder Managing Director, Sri City, extended a warm welcome and gave them a briefing on the salient features of the integrated business city. Presenting the initiatives that are being implemented to maintain the carbon neutral status of the industrial hub, he said, “Our objective is to build a world-class business destination with a perfect synergy between industrial growth and sustainability. It is a promise of a better future, where clean air and thriving communities go hand-in-hand with industrial might.”
Noting that nature takes centre stage in Sri City, Dr. George Jenner remarked that ‘clean ambiance promotes a harmonious blend of industry and ecology in the business city. Lauding the efforts of Sri City, he complimented Dr. Sannareddy and said that it was a pleasant surprise to see such a well-planned city with world-class infrastructure located so close to Chennai. “In a very neat, clean, green, and pleasant environment, it encompasses so many industries, both domestic and foreign, offering livelihood to so many local people,” he remarked.
Following the briefing session, they all went around the industrial hub and visited the production unit of Isuzu Motors. As evident from the feedback, they were all impressed with Sri City’s infrastructure and eco-friendly ambience, and they all praised its perfect planning, meticulous implementation, sustainable urbanisation principles, keenness on job creation, and positive impact on the entire region.
Annotating the visit, Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy said, ”We are very happy to have the top officials of the Central Environment and Forest Department in Sri City. Their observations and suggestions will certainly help us to improve further.”
