A Delegation of students from Tripura visits Sri City

Sri City, March 12, 2024: A 45 member team of students and faculty members from Tripura visited Sri City on Tuesday as part of the ‘Yuva Sangam’ programme, a student exchange initiative under the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ (EBSB) programme of the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The aim of the visit was to expose the students to Sri City’s rapid industrial development.

Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder Managing Director of Sri City, welcomed the delegation and appreciated the Ministry of Education for this initiative. He stated that programmes like EBSB promote diversity and provide students with valuable new experiences. He briefed the students on Sri City’s unique features, highlighting its status as the ‘new face of India’. He mentioned that over 210 companies from 28 countries are present in Sri City, representing diverse sectors like automotive, electronics, and FMCG. He emphasised how these companies contribute to ‘Make in India for the World’ by producing import substitutes and generating employment for over 62,000 people, with over 50% being women.

Dr. Sannareddy stated that Sri City is actively working to provide skill development and job opportunities for Northeast youth, in response to the Governor of Mizoram’s strong desire expressed during his recent visit.

After the briefing, there was an interaction session during which the guests posed a number of inquiries regarding different aspects of Sri City and received clarifications. They expressed their gratitude to Sri City for hosting them, stating that the visit was an enriching experience that allowed them to witness firsthand how the business city functions and how industries are improving lives and empowering women in the region.

The delegation toured the industrial park and observed the ongoing industrial activity. They visited the production units of Epack and Amber, and interacted with company executives, to learn about the production process.

The Government of India launched the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative to celebrate India’s cultural vibrancy, promote nationalism and cultural awareness, and strengthen interaction between people from Northeast states and other parts of the country. For this year’s programme, in Andhra Pradesh, the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Tirupati has been identified as the Nodal Institution.
