Sri City Hosts APPCB–CII Session on Green Rating for industries

Sri City, March 25, 2026: Sri City hosted an awareness session jointly organised by the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), aimed at promoting sustainable practices and green building adoption across industries in the state.

The event, chaired by Dr. P. Krishnaiah, I.A.S. (Retd.), Chairman, APPCB, marked the launch of the Green Rating for Industries in Andhra Pradesh. The session convened industry leaders, policymakers, and sustainability experts to highlight the critical role of environmental responsibility in industrial growth.

Addressing the session, Dr. Krishnaiah said, “Industrial growth is inevitable, but it must not override citizens’ health or environmental protection. Development and ecology must go hand in hand.” He highlighted the state’s drive toward 50% green cover, the proposed Great Green Wall along the coast of Andhra Pradesh, and urged industries to adopt native canopy trees and Green.

Thanking Dr. Krishnaiah for launching the initiative at Sri City, Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Managing Director, Sri City, said: “Sustainability is embedded in Sri City’s DNA—from green buildings and renewable energy integration to efficient water and waste management systems. With APPCB’s structured incentive framework, our industries are steadily adopting global green standards, demonstrating that environmental responsibility and competitive growth can advance together.”

Mr. Nihal Kaul, Chairman of CII GreenCo South Andhra Pradesh Cluster, highlighted that disciplined optimisation of energy, water, and waste delivers environmental and operational gains. He stressed GreenCo and IGBC ratings drive ESG vision, positioning Sri City industries as sustainability leaders.

The session opened with a welcome address by Dr. N. Muthusezhiyan, Deputy Executive Director of CII Green Business Centre, who highlighted that APPCB–CII collaboration provides industries with frameworks like GreenCo and IGBC ratings, enabling measurable sustainability in energy, water, waste, and supply chains, while incentive‑linked regulation amplifies positive outcomes.

In response to a query from the participants, Dr. Krishnaiah assured that comprehensive waste management and e‑waste recycling facilities would soon be established around Sri City. The session closed with a forward‑looking exchange, underscoring a collective resolve to anchor sustainability at the heart of industrial and urban growth. With collaborative efforts from regulators, industry bodies, and industrial hubs like Sri City, Andhra Pradesh is steadily advancing toward responsible, future-ready growth.
