Sri City, June 12, 2018: A two-weeks welding foundation programme conducted by the Sri City Siemens Technical Skill Development Institute (SSTSDI) for the students of Govt. ITI, Tada concluded on Monday. Nineteen students, who are in final year (welding trade) have under gone the skill training.
The welding foundation programme was designed to develop the fundamental skills and knowledge required for initial employment in the welding industry. It focuses intensely on practical welder training, where the trainee learns welding techniques starting with basics of welding. The curriculum of course, which is the entry level programme for this trade, consists of Safety and PPE (personal protective equipment), basics of welding, different welding process and gas cutting, welding electrodes and filler materials, Manual Metal Arc Welding (MMAW) and MIG welding, also known as Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), and welding defects and welding positions.
Commenting on the occasion Mr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder Managing Director, Sri City said,”With an aim to develop skilled manpower in the region, in tune with the demand of the industries, in a tie-up with Siemens, AP government set up the institute in Sri City as it has the right environment. I am very happy to note that the gap between Industry needs and students abilities is being reduced through Industry oriented skill training.”
SSTSDI, which was started in May 2017 offers skill training to students from ITI, Polytechnic & Engineering colleges in the neighbouring mandals. Training is provided in Computer Numerical Control (CNC), Computer Aided Design (CAD), automobile engineering, welding. Till date, in all trades put together, more than 500 students received training here.
